About the work
The interlocking chevrons of a woven palm mat, enlarged until each strand is as wide as a hand, printed in saffron, black and a sea turquoise.
Condition
Excellent.
Provenance
Acquired from the artist by the present owner, 2021.
The artist
Noor's screenprints take the patterns of woven palm mats, the mikeka her grandmother made in Garissa, and enlarge them into bold flat fields of colour. She prints in three or four colours at most, saffron, black and a sea turquoise among them, and pulls each edition by hand.
