About the work
The concrete sun-screen of an office block photographed at midday, when the shadows of its fins fall straight down and the facade becomes a pattern of white and near-black.
Condition
Excellent.
Provenance
Acquired from the artist by the present owner, 2022.
The artist
Mutiso photographs the concrete of East Africa's post-independence buildings at midday, when the sun is straight overhead and the shadows of their screens and fins are at their deepest. He looks for the pattern rather than the building, and never shows a whole facade.
