About the work

Early light picks out the edges of terraced fields on a hillside, each terrace a thin bright line above a band of shadow.

The artist

Ndayisenga photographs the hills of southern Rwanda on medium-format film, usually in the hour after rain, when the mist lifts off the terraces. He prints his own gelatin silver editions in a darkroom in Kigali, in editions of eight.
